Does Keyword Density Really Matters in Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

From long time ago, internet marketers and SEO Services providers around the world have been persisting with the importance content optimization for getting higher search engine rankings.  Among other factors of optimized web content, maintaining an ideal keyword density is considered as the best among search engine optimizers.

What An Ideal Keyword Density Exactly Is?

While writing an article or sales copy, content writers are supposed to maintain an ideal keywords density of up to 2-3% so that the web content can rank higher in search engine results pages. Although Google have not made any compulsion for such a percentage but it is considered that a high keyword density might not do well with Google as the online search giant consider it as Black Hat SEO technique.

Does Keyword Density Really Matters in SEO?

Well, it’s a great question! A majority of SEO Services companies often wonder if the 2-3% keyword density is really a good SEO technique or follow this strategy capitalize on keyword optimization for search engines.
The method of optimizing the web content by maintaining an ideal keyword density (usually 3%) is a popular SEO technique but nobody knows whether this factor stills holds good today and add any value to the websites’ overall search engine optimization model.

According to Google experts, the great evolution in Google’s search engine algorithms over the years has diminished the significance of keyword density once considered as one of the most important search engine optimization practices.

So What Really Matters In Content Optimization?

Now Google don’t consider keyword density as an important factor to measure the significance of a Web Page.  Owing to Google’s evolving algorithms and consideration to serve better search results, SEO Services provider must optimize the web content to multiple search queries for getting higher search engine rankings.
In technical sense, the concept of Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) now matters more for Google as a part best Web Content Optimization techniques.

LSI basically refers to the technique of using a set of keywords or keywords phrases that semantic relevance with each another. For example, if you are writing an article for the keyword ‘SEO Services’, then you should consider using the worlds that are synonymous with it as well. So you can use ‘Article Marketing’, ‘Link Building’, ‘Social Bookmarking’ and ‘Directory Submissions’ as well.

Likewise, if you are writing a web page on ‘Ecommerce Website’, when analyzed using LSI, your content should contain the words such as ‘Shopping Cart System, Products Details Page, Order Confirmation, Payment Gateways etc. The reason behind such technique supported by Google is that using synonyms increases the chances of a web page being found in relevant search queries for a specific term, which ultimately helps the searchers.

Google is considering the concept of LSI from the time it bought a company whose software was being used to organize information from website in a way just like humans do. This action was strategically meant to support Google’s Ad words product development. From that time, content optimization technique has changed from ‘keywords’ to ‘themes’. So if you are writing a search engine optimized web content for a specific keyword you should pay more attention to LSI approach rather than focusing on a particular keyword density.
